The Brumbies have made five changes for this match and brought some new talent for what is probably their biggest clash of the year.

Injuries have prevented the Brumbies from getting ahead this year.

They have the talent in their squad but they cant get the talent on the field. Stirling Mortlock and George Smith have been out for weeks and they are still out this weekend.

Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off. The match is underway.

.00: The Waratahs start well and run the ball into the Brumbies 25. They win a penalty.

.00:Daniel Halangahu nails the penalty and the Waratahs lead.

.00: The Brumbies win a penalty this time so Matt Giteau takes the kick from the touchline - but misses.

.00: The Brumbies give away a penalty at the scrum. The Waratahs set up a line out which they win and run it. Holmes makes a break but the ball goes forward to the support.

.00: The Brumbies show some good running skills but the Waratahs turn the ball over and Mitchell boots the ball to safety.

.00: The Waratahs start to move the ball through the phases but get held back by the Brumbies defence. This match looks like it will be dominated by defence.

.00: The game is held up as Adam Freier gets some attention medically.

.00: Backchat after a tackle from Stephen Hoiles gives the Waratahs a penalty. Halangahu will go for posts.

.00: Halangahu nails the penalty. Steve Walsh seems to be having some trouble with Hoiles' personality as the two are not agreeing. Walsh seems to be making this personal.

.0: The Brumbies make some good ground into the Waratahs half. The Brumbies however turn it over and Carter boots the ball downfield - McCabe from the Brumbies wins and boots the ball into touch.

.00: Salesi Ma'afu gets some attention medically so the game is held up.

.00; Andrew Smith gives away a penalty for the Brumbies. Halanagahu takes the kick for posts.

.00: Halangahu nails it.

.00: Penalty from the ruck to the Brumbies. Matt Giteau will kick for posts.

.00: He nails it and puts the Brumbies on the board.

.00: The Brumbies look to be getting stronger as they work the ball into the Waratahs 25. Adam Ashley-Cooper has run and the Brumbies drive over the line. They think they have scored but Walsh blows for a penalty. The Waratahs take it quickly and make it safe. Replays show Walsh should have awarded a try. Clearly Walsh has a problem with the Brumbies.

.00: Moving on. The Brumbies are awarded a penalty. Matt Giteau takes the kick and nails it.

.00: Scrum penalty to the Brumbies. They take it quickly and the ball is kick straight to Halangahu who makes some good ground for the Waratahs but the Brumbies snatch the ball back.

.00: Stephen Moore gives away a penalty so the Waratahs kick deep to clear the ball.

.00: As the Brumbies attack the Waratahs are caught offside. Matt Giteau will finish the half with a chance to level the scores.

.00: The Hooter sounds. Giteau takes his time - kicks and nails it - it's half time.

The half time score was Waratahs 9 Brumbies 9

The second half is underway.

.00: The Waratahs give away a penalty so Matt Giteau kicks for posts but misses.

.00: The Waratahs are next to be awarded a penalty and Halangahu nails it.

.00: Kurtley Beale puts the ball on his boot and chases - he kicks again and chases the ball but Adam Ashley Cooper wins the race and saves the try.

.00; Berrick Barnes kicks the ball out behind the Brumbies defence and Lachie Turner just gets there before the ball reaches the line and runs in the first try of the match !

.00: Halangahu adds the conversion and the Waratahs are starting to run away with this.

.00: The Brumbies and Waratahs both enjoy some good runs in broken play and some kicking and the Brumbies gain some ground in the end. There is a bout of tension with Valentine and a few others.

.00: The Brumbies start to pick and go into the Waratahs 25 - it's messy but it wins them a penalty.

.00: Giteau takes the kick and nails it.

.00: The Waratahs start to go to the bench as Baxter comes off. Waratahs enjoy some good territory with a scrum in the Brumbies 25 - 5m out.

.00: The Brumbies give away a penalty at the scrum. Kepu gets some attention medically which holds the game up. The Waratahs scrum again but the Brumbies give away a penalty. Hoiles is still battling with Steve Walsh who is now threatening cards. He has been terribly one sided in this match.

.00: The Waratahs choose to scrum again and they drive for the line but Walsh blows for a re-set. Baxter has had to come back on for Kepu.

.00: Tahs scrum again but this time Walsh blows for a penalty against the Tahs. They kick for touch.

.00: Another penalty to the Brumbies but they are all coming well into their half. They kick for touch.

.00: Halangahu comes off and Barnes moves to 10.

.00: The Waratahs set up their attack in the Brumbies half. The drive forward using the pick and drive - 10 phases and then the ball goes into touch.

.00: Some broken play from both teams lifts the crowd but gets neither team any closer to scoring.

.00: The Brumbies lose the ball forward as they attack. Turner gathers the ball and passes back. Ashley Cooper gets the ball and sparks a brief attack which is shut down.

.00: The Waratahs start to wind the clock down with some close range pick and go cycles. Eventually they give away a penalty.

.00: The Brumbies have the ball as the siren sounds. They keep the ball alive. 4 phases. It's sloppy after 5 phases but still alive. 8 phases. They keep edging forward.

.00: Penalty to the Brumbies. They have to run it. After three phases the Tahs win a penalty. Waugh kicks it out.

That's it Waratahs win.

The final score is Waratahs 19 Brumbies 12
