A second topsy-turvy week of Stage 2 of the RFU Championship brought plenty more excitement and drama as two matches ended with the teams separated by just one point and Coventry also earning a losing bonus point.

The Pools are beginning to take shape and Week 3's matches will be crucial for all 12 clubs.

Bedford Blues posted a second successive win by a single point as they held on for a 17-16 victory over Bristol having led by 17 points within half an hour.

The second match in Pool A was a South West derby which Cornish Pirates won comfortably against Plymouth Albion, scoring two tries and easing to a 17 – 0 win.

Exeter Chiefs bounced back from last week's surprise defeat at Nottingham to beat London Welsh in Pool B – three tries in the last 10 minutes put a gloss on the scoreline and helped the Chiefs to an important bonus point.

Doncaster Knights brought Nottingham back down to earth as they posted a 25 – 15 win at Castle Park to give each team in the Pool one win from two matches and leave all four teams within a point of each other.

In Pool C Rotherham Titans and Birmingham and Solihull both have 100 per cent records.

Rotherham scored 20 unanswered points against Moseley in the second half at Billesley Common and turned a 29-10 deficit into a 29-30 victory.

Birmingham and Solihull led throughout their match at Coventry and followed up last week's first win of the season with another four points at Coventry.
