The British and Irish Lions may have lost the Test series against South Africa but England's British Lions are holding their heads high on their return home.
And for Ugo Monye in particular the 28-9 victory at Ellis Park in which he scored was particularly sweet after being dropped following the first Test defeat in Durban.
A relieved and emotional Harlequins winger told today's RFU podcast: "I almost cried when I put the ball down - to look up and see all the British and Irish Lions supporters was amazing.
Monye and Riki Flutey may be relative newcomers to the international stage but even for a veteran like Phil Vickery it was a remarkable end to a memorable tour.
"South Africa deserve their series win but we can go home and hold our heads high," said Vickery.
"I just hope that Lions tours will continue because this has been very special for me."
All three players have been included in the England Elite Player Squad announced by Team Manager Martin Johnson this week.
